This Tascam 112B had not effort spared to bring it back to the original specifications. It operates within the extremely low 0.04% wow and flutter and sounds like on its first day. It is rare that I am getting excited listening to a cassette deck other than the top Nakamichis – but the 112B falls into that category. This is a very very good sounding deck.
The 112B has been built for the broadcasting industry. Top performance and reliability are essential for this type of environment. It is also a very rare combination of a deck with VU meters and having Dolby B + C, Digital Counter and HX Pro on board. Overall it got some really great aesthetics and won’t leave any serious tape listener disappointed!
The deck has received the below service:
- Cleaning of capstan flywheel and motor pulley
- Removal of belt residuce on logical control belt
- Replacement of all belts
- Lubrication of flywheel
- Lubrication of capstan
- Cleaning of capstan with chemical
- Cleaning of head
- Demagnetisation of head and capstan
- Treatment of original pinch roller
- Speed calibration
- Frequency check
- Full function test
