The JVC KD-A2 is a beautiful cassette deck from the late 70ties. It has “open design” that gives you full view of the tape you are playing. If no tape is inserted, the head cover integrated in the front can just be flipped of the sensitive parts. The JVC decks of that time period have a good reputation. JVC used good heads and they do perform really well in their decks. The KD-A2 is no exception here. The built quality is very good, the two nicely backlit VU meters are in an almost have a centimeter thick aluminium faceplate.
To get the KD-A2 working within its factory spece below service was carried out:
- Replacement of capstan belt
- Reconditioning of pinch roller
- Cleaning of heads and capstan
- Demagnetisation of heads and capstan
- Lubrication of moving parts
- Playback level calibration
- Speed calibration
- Full function test
Below is a test recording made with the KD-A2 and played back by it:
This cassette deck comes with 6 months warranty.
