With the KLANGWELLE Studio bookshelf speakers we are introducing our first in house designed and built speakers under our KLANGWELLE brand. “Klangwelle” is German and means soundwave. Hinting that there is German enginering that went into the design of the case, crossover and selection of the high quality drivers.
For us it was important to design an affordable pair of bookshelf speakers in a “natural” finish that is cabable of outperforming the competiton in the $1500 to $2000 range. Our speakers sound very revealing and detailed. Even with only a 5″ woofer due to the high volume of the cabinet, they are capable of reaching low frequencies at good level you would only expect a 12″ woofer can accomplish.
The amazing resolution of the tweeters just shines with every kind of music and especcially noticeable with recordings that have a large spacey feeling or have been recorded in large rooms. While 50 watt might not seem a lot, this is more than sufficient for most listening areas, living rooms or wherever you enjoy your music.
The material we used for the case is 19mm thick plywood, dampened with wool from the inside. The panels are precision CNC cut, with cutouts in the front perfectly following the outline of the drivers and laser engraving on the bottom. The panels are locked into each other, ensuring air tightness and rigidity of the casing. On the back of the case we find gold plated screw on terminals that can also take banana plugs.
Everybody is welcome to audition these speakers here in our shop at Box Hill.
