The Marantz SD-1000 is a two speed cassette deck from the late 70ties. It comes with Dolby B noise reduction and two big VU meters in a thick aluminium front. These decks do sound really good and are built like a tank.
Why two speed? One of the limitation of the compact cassette is its slow speed compared to reel to reel decks. These two speed decks can be switched to “reel to reel speed” (3 3/4 IPS) for your own recordings. The result is an even better quality than the standard cassette format was originally designed for. Marantz releases quite a number of cassette decks around this time with this otherwise unique feature.
To get this deck back to original spec it has received quite a bit of service:
- New Capstan Belt
- New transport belt
- Lubrications of moving parts
- cleaning of heads and capstan
- speed calibration
- full function test
This unit comes with 6 montgs warranty.
