This SD1010 is the mid range deck from this time period from Marantz and it is out of the “popular” time where Marantz was not yet bought up by competition and build products to last. This SD1010 is built like a tank – just like its siblings. It sounds really good and this particular unit is in absolute showroom condition. There is not the slightest scratch on the fascia, the buttons came all back with its original shine and overall this unit must have been well kept. To get it back to be a joy to listen and use it has received quite a bit of service:
- Cleaning of capstan wheel and motor pulley from old rubber residue
- New capstan belt
- New logic control belt
- New Pinch Roller
- Lubribcation of capstan shaft and flywheel with high end oil and lithium grease
- Cleaning of all heads
- Cleaning of capstan with chemical
- Demagnetisation of all heads and capstan
- Speed Calibration
- Playback level calibration
- Record level calibration
- Full function test
There are no rubber parts that remained in this deck that have not been replaced!
