Another vintage CD player with the popular and getting more and more TDA1541 DAC from Philips. Philips was the inventor of the CD format (they only joined forces with SONY close to marker readyness). The TDA1541 DAC was the first DAC. It had only one predecessor – the TDA1540 which as a 14 Bit only DAC. The 1541 is working with the full 16 bits and has its signature smooth sound. There are a lot of DACs that came after. Often applying totally different approaches but amongst audiophiles the TDA1541 is still in the top 5 of the best sounding DACs ever made.
This Philips player comes with the CDM-4/19 mechanism and the case has the case of the device has the vibration reducing honeycomb structure. The circuit board is completely copper plated and leaves no doubt that this was considered a high end device.
The unit is in good condition with a few scratches here and there. It has a large, beautiful tri colored VFD display and a number keyback for direct track selection. The belt for the drawer has been replaced and the lens been cleaned. Good to go for the next 4 decades!
