Optonica was Sharp’s high end brand and they released in the 70ties and 80ties some extremely well designed gear. This RT-2050 is a 10 KG heavy beast with wooden side panels, service hatch on the top for Azimuth adjustment and record level calibration on the back. It is an old school front loader with a really heavy mechanism that produces decently low wow & flutter results. The cosmetic condition is very good and quite close to mint. We have removed the front panel to clean it thoroughly and bring back the original shine. The side panels are also in good condition as well as the top.
This deck has received a major service:
- Removal of entire transport and replacement of capstan and counter belt
- Lubrication of flywheel with lithium grease and capstan with high quality synthetic oil
- Cleaning of heads
- Demagnetisation of heads
- Cleaning of capstan with chemical
- Cleaning and treatment of original pinch roller
- Speed Calibration
- Playback level calibration
- Record level calibration
