The Technics RS-B18 come with 3 noise reduction systems: Dolby B, C and DBX. The DBX system increases the dynamic range of a cassette tape to 110dB. A CD just has a dynamic range of 90dB! Even with the RS-B18 being on the lower range of Technics product spectrum in 1984, it does perform quite well and is well built.
