These gears do commonly fail on Technics double cassette decks of the RS-TR series. An indicator for a failed gear is the pickups not spinning and taking up the tape in playback mode.
The material of the original gears deteriorates over time and teeth are breaking off. Our replacement gears have been designed to be a drop-in replacement and are being made out of long lasting material.
